I smiled though, when I saw the last photo - that the digger got past the ashen topsoil, and revealed clean bright --- almost orange -- soil. It's a metaphor for you to cling to. On another note, I'd check and make sure that company doesn't have a history of "working" on people's plans and then canceling and keeping deposits. Sounds fishy to me.
