First taste of winter

Yep, winter has officially arrived here.

Hello, snow. Whether in color or black and white, you do look mighty pretty.

Until I have to shovel you off the driveway, that is. Then, not so much.

I REALLY hate to admit that I needed that snow yesterday. I’ve been such a Scrooge this year, but the planets aligned yesterday…a whole day with Zan without the kids—shopping, eating, drinking, and seeing old friends, all with a backdrop of snow. It was completely therapeutic. My Bah Humbug days are behind me. :)

Wow. That’s really beautiful. I’m happy it hasn’t snowed here yet though. I’m hoping that my snow experiences this year will be completely relegated to the few days I’m spending in NYC in early January!!

That is breathtaking. I’d forgotten the majesty of winter. Having grown up in Wisconsin, I experienced more snow and blizzards than I cared to remember and moved south as soon as I graduated. But your picture brought back the magic and for that I am very grateful. Thank you for the joyous memories.

Thanks, everyone. As much as I sometimes complain about the inconveniences of winter, I really do love how beautiful everything looks outside. Except today, when I slipped on ice and banged myself up a bit. But other than that, lovely! (Daily, you sure you still want to come shovel? :) )

about me

I write, cook, play music, and make pictures. Not necessarily in that order. I was born and raised in the Philippines, and it shows. That means I eat rice with every meal, love my cousins like my own siblings, and firmly believe that avocados are best eaten with cream and sugar.

If you want to learn more about me, here are 43 things I'd like to do. Here's a little something about my name, in case you were wondering. Here are some other places you'll find me:

One summer night in 2010, our house burned to the ground and we lost everything we had. This is the story of what happened and how life and hope can always rise from ashes.
