Sunburst flower

To get myself prepped for my flight tomorrow, a little reminder of sunny California.

Except, this wasn’t taken in California. It was taken in my kitchen, when it was too cold to go outside and play photographer outdoors.

I still say it looks California-y to me. Doesn’t it? Just pay no mind to the falling WordPress snow.

Oh, one last thing: I hate packing.

Is that wordpress snow optional? Love this picture! Very bright yellow, it’s amazing what digital photography can do isn’t it.

Sunburst is right – looks wonderfully sunny and warm! I love winter and cold but it is -7 right now (was supposed to go to -20 so I should be grateful…).

I hate packing also, Lately for visiting relatives, I ship everything and skip the toiletries in a ziploc fun, and whiz through security with a tote bag…

Thanks for some warm sunshine today!

I hate packing, too…. with a passion. I always said that another good thing about Heaven is that you won’t have to pack to get there and the fact that it’ll smell like fresh lilacs… anyway….

You’re inspiring me to get into the Macro world… Great Shot! I’ll pretend it’s an outdoor shot…. out my door that is….. With the temperature being what it is right now… I will REALLY have to pretend…
    Thanks again.

Yippee!! I am so excited to have found you. I just purchased a canon point and shoot and I could use some help. So I will be checking in from time to time to get some tips and tricks. I am so excited. I need some serious help with indoor shooting. Christmas morning has always been a photographing nighmare for me, with all the crazy light and constant movement. Help!

    Hi IH,

I really like your website and love your photos. Is a Nikon Coolpix 950 a “point and shoot”? I wonder if I could take some macros like you…..hmmmmm.
I use Elements 7, just barely….learning it one layer at a time. :)

There must be gorgeous light in your kitchen for such a beautiful bright shot! (Or you’ve PS’d a bit for the brightness) Either way, have fun in the sun while we here on the East coast brace for another storm headed our way.

Karma, that’s my flash + DIY flash diffuser + Raynox DCR-250 setup there. I love how it gives me gorgeous light all the time.

Welcome to all the new commenters! Sorry for the late reply. I was away. :)

about me

I write, cook, play music, and make pictures. Not necessarily in that order. I was born and raised in the Philippines, and it shows. That means I eat rice with every meal, love my cousins like my own siblings, and firmly believe that avocados are best eaten with cream and sugar.

If you want to learn more about me, here are 43 things I'd like to do. Here's a little something about my name, in case you were wondering. Here are some other places you'll find me:
