Road work

Sometimes, there is a small advantage to being on the STOP side of two guys trying to direct traffic around road work area.

It gives you enough time to fire up your camera, pre-focus on the really interesting-looking guy holding the sign, and patiently wait for him to look your way.

Two guys with white beards on a cold December morning, directing traffic on the road. How apropos.

Newsflash! If, like me, you’re hankering for a copy of the newest, baddest Photoshop version ever, head over here for a chance to win one of three copies of Photoshop CS4.

Sigh. I wish I could enter, but I feel funny about joining a contest in the Photography section when I’m kinda a small part of it. Very small. Microscopic, actually. You can hardly tell I’m there.

Hmmm … come to think of it, maybe no one will even notice if I do enter. Maybe I could use a pseudonym. Like Leverchalet. Or Ebonytent. Or Elephanteepee. Or … nevermind. This could go on for hours.

Thanks for the heads up on the CS4 signup. (however, I dropped by that blog before I came to yours)

Love the “snow falling” on the screen.. nice touch!

Your pictures dipict what I mean when I say I wish I had as much courage as you.. just to whip out the camera, so spontaneously, especially when someone is looking straight at you. Backbone–now THAT’S what I want for Christmas! :)

I thin guy #2 seems to look even more like Santa – any chance of a closer look at him?

When hubby and I lived in Alaska, we drove in to Ft Wainwright through the back gate (must I specify that we were military at the time). At first this gate was manned by soldiers, but around December the Army outsourced to contractors. We pulled up one day and I kid you not, there were about 4 people each around 4′-5′ tall, bundled up so you couldn’t tell if they were male or female, with thick round glasses and (perhaps because of the clothes?) very rotund. They came up and asked for our ID in high-pitched voices, greeting us with “Happy Day!” I swear it was all we could do to drive away without asking them if Santa knew they were moonlighting as a security team!

Wow, nice shot!! I always feel so odd when I photograph people, like they’ll think I’m some kind of superfreak.

Great photo! And I love the snow. And say, it’s still snowing in here in the comment section! Makes me cold just to look at it.

about me

I write, cook, play music, and make pictures. Not necessarily in that order. I was born and raised in the Philippines, and it shows. That means I eat rice with every meal, love my cousins like my own siblings, and firmly believe that avocados are best eaten with cream and sugar.

If you want to learn more about me, here are 43 things I'd like to do. Here's a little something about my name, in case you were wondering. Here are some other places you'll find me:

LOST AND FOUND

One summer night in 2010, our house burned to the ground and we lost everything we had. This is the story of what happened and how life and hope can always rise from ashes.

I'm proud to belong to an amazing community of Filipino food lovers. Together, we celebrate this often-neglected Asian cuisine, sharing our family's treasured recipes and discovering new ones along the way. This is our club.
