The first daffodil of spring

And it sprang up in a spot where I don’t even remember putting down any daffodil buds.

Must be the work of the chipmunks. The ones around here keep toying with me. So much for carefully planned bulb placements.

Not that I really put any planning to it, of course. I just like passing the blame.

Prettiest daffodil I’ve ever seen! :-)
You know…. this spring I found an iris, where we’ve never had them before. The other ones aren’t even close to that spot.

Talk about intensly yellow. This is extreme flower power. I need to listen to some Grateful Dead man!

Sometimes the prettiest flowers are the ones that plant themselves. I’ve got some tall phlox that pop up several yards away from the ones I planted. I’ve seen the daffodils blooming in a couple spots around here too, but still not in my yard. :-(

Phlox! I want some creeping phlox for my retaining wall out front. I wonder if they spread wildly or if they are easy to contain.

Shrew, interestingly enough, my yearbook writeup mentioned something about flower power. I wondered why, since I was born in the 70s halfway around the globe from here. Go figure.

Michaela, I wanted to get some iris bulbs too. I may still do that, now that I’m returning my package of canna bulbs. I can’t have anything that attracts Japanese beetles anywhere near my roses.

about me

I write, cook, play music, and make pictures. Not necessarily in that order. I was born and raised in the Philippines, and it shows. That means I eat rice with every meal, love my cousins like my own siblings, and firmly believe that avocados are best eaten with cream and sugar.

If you want to learn more about me, here are 43 things I'd like to do. Here's a little something about my name, in case you were wondering. Here are some other places you'll find me:
