Nature is a weird, hip, and sometimes misunderstood artist

And the other day, she put on a show in my backyard. I ventured out thinking I’d get photos of more flowers, and instead caught glimpse of her latest abstract work.

I swear, she never ceases to amaze me.

These look sooo cool!! I never find anything that neat in my boring yard. Right now I’m waiting for my prickly pear to bloom. Will probably be at least another month.

That looks like a Clematis, grape or wisteria. Also some of the climbing peas and beans do these wraparounds. Looks like last years growth, in as much as they are brown and hard. They look good but are a pain to retrain.

Ivoryhut you are killing me with your beautiful shots.
These are seriously amazing. You know I love these types of nature close-ups.

Michaela, I was surprised to see these too. It was a treat to discover them. I keep thinking that they could have come and gone with no one ever seeing them and appreciating them, since they were back in the overgrown part of the yard.

Mad Michael, I have no idea what these are. They were among the pricker bush whips. I’ll have to go investigate further and figure out what these are exactly. We are planning to cut down everything in this part of the yard, but now I’m a bit less eager to do so. I kinda like these curly things.

Brc, thanks, gal. :) If ever you find yourself in my neck of the woods, we can explore all you want in my yard.

These are awesome portraits of nature’s childrens. Number 2 is obviously the clown of the crew!

They do look an awful lot like my grapevines I was pruning this weekend. Darn curly things grew right into my gutters and screens. I was too busy hacking them down to even consider taking their picture! ;-)

Yeah, Shrew. Number 2 reminded me of something, but I couldn’t figure out what. Maybe a “who” rather than a “what.” I’ve met my share of clowns in my life. :)

Karma, I don’t think they’re grapevines either. I’ll have to take a closer look.

about me

I write, cook, play music, and make pictures. Not necessarily in that order. I was born and raised in the Philippines, and it shows. That means I eat rice with every meal, love my cousins like my own siblings, and firmly believe that avocados are best eaten with cream and sugar.

If you want to learn more about me, here are 43 things I'd like to do. Here's a little something about my name, in case you were wondering. Here are some other places you'll find me:
