My new baby …

… is a Canon Powershot S5 IS. She’s purty. And she takes purty pictures. Like this one:

Doesn’t she make my poor neglected garden look nice?

I posted a few more in my Flickr account. Methinks I’ll be plenty busy the next few days playing around with this. If I start complaining that my wrist is giving me problems again, tell me you told me so.

On another note, did you download your free Simply Westcoast Music Vol. 1 album yet? Well? What are you waiting for?

What is that very cool flower in the first shot? Zinnia? Dahlia? Do tell!

WordPress is telling me I already said my comment but I didn’t! I wanted to know what the very cool looking flower in the first shot is – I’m thinking zinnia or dahlia?

Hey there! That’s a mum that’s just beginning to bloom. You can see another one in the distance. Looks really different up close, right?

Okay I just looked through the macro shots on Flickr… way cool. The close ups are incredible.

So help me understand your new camera… you don’t change lenses and it’s not a DSLR, but can you control the shutter and aperture?

I WANT A NEW CAMERA TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Hey brc! Sorry for the late response, but as you’ve already read, I’ve been away burning myself to a crisp. :)

Yes, my new camera is not a DSLR but has modes that allow you to control the shutter and aperture. My Canon S5 also lets me set the ISO setting. Plus, I am really having fun with its super macro mode and also experimenting with the reverse lens technique (putting a regular 50mm lens in front of my digital camera’s lens reversed, or front end to front end, to create a “poor man’s” macro lens).

I still think, though, that nothing beats the image quality of a DSLR. I may take Shrew’s lead and eventually spring for a DSLR soon.

about me

I write, cook, play music, and make pictures. Not necessarily in that order. I was born and raised in the Philippines, and it shows. That means I eat rice with every meal, love my cousins like my own siblings, and firmly believe that avocados are best eaten with cream and sugar.

If you want to learn more about me, here are 43 things I'd like to do. Here's a little something about my name, in case you were wondering. Here are some other places you'll find me:

LOST AND FOUND

One summer night in 2010, our house burned to the ground and we lost everything we had. This is the story of what happened and how life and hope can always rise from ashes.
